Holy War.
This is a new role playing game called Holy War. I play this game and it's very addictive. A bit on the slow side, but once
you get into it, it's very hard to put down. If you follow this picture link and register
on the Holy War site (it's free), then I will offer to protect you through the first few levels. This will give you an edge,
something you need when you start to play a game that others have been playing for
a while.
First, let's take a quick look at what's available after sigining in for the first time.
There's a series of buttons at the top - some down the left side, some down the right side
and some across the centre section e.g. City, Attack etc. Try looking at the high score table
on the left side. This will give you an idea of what's possible when you see the stats and
equipment of the top players. Click the 'Highscore' button, then see that you can filter the
results by faith and rank. Don't filter it for now; just click the Search button and you'll
see the top 100 list. Look at 'Canis Lupis', the current number one. His symbol is a star
which indicates that he is of the Pagan faith. He's level 31 with 8000+ victories and a
gold haul of 190,000+ i.e. the amount of gold he has won off other players. Click on
'Canis Lupis', and you are taken to his profile screen. It shows his picture, his house, horse,
level, experience and his profile description. To find out what weapons and armour a player has,
you will need to attack them. Do this by going back to the main screen and clicking on the 'Attack'
button. This opens a screen where you may search for an opponent to attack or where you can plunder
( this is described below in the tips for new recruits). It costs 1 gold to attack someone, and
you must search for the name from this screen. So, every time you want to attack another player, you
must come to this screen and either type a name into the search box to locate that player, or
leave the box empty to find a random opponent. 1 gold for each search. When you get to the attack
screen, press the Attack button near the bottom. Try it out on a level 1 player and see whether
you win.
Now go back to the main screen and take a look around the city by clicking on the City button.
This shows you all the shops where you can buy stuff. Try out each of the shops and see what they
have to offer. The goods will be very limited for a level 1 player, but the selection increases
as you gain levels, with much more exotic equipment available at higher levels, and at high cost!
Try the other main buttons on the menu, then when you've had a good look around, take a look at
my notes for new recruits below. Try it for a couple of days and give it a chance before leaving.
You might just find yourself hooked like me.
TIPS FOR NEW RECRUITS
=======================
Read the following for new recruits:
Read the instructions (top left) and the FAQ (middle right).
To make gold and earn experience you
need to plunder. So, go to the Attack button straight away and plunder for two hours. You get 2 hours
each day to plunder which earns you gold and experience.(you get one hour when non-premium).
Only plunder for 10 minutes at a time. Read the instructions (top left) and the FAQ (middle right)
to find out more about this. REMEMBER that it costs you 10gp each time you plunder. So, try not
to let your gold fall below 50. After the first plundering session, each plundering session is two
hours long starting at 0000cet. You stop being premium ticket holder after the first 7 days, so make
the most of each daily plundering session.
Always have a fight between every third or fourth stage of plundering. Remember from the
instructions that you can only be attacked after 1 hour of having a fight, so stay active.
Once finished, spend all your money - gold can be taken off you, items like weapons/armour/potions
cannot. Until approaching level 11 fight all faiths. Buy a house during your first plundering
session, then increase it up to stage 4 whilst below level 10, then to level 6 after that. A
residence increases your recovery time after being hit hard by an opponent.
Work hard, improve your stats before anything else, since your stats govern how strong and quick
you are i.e. how good a fighter you are. Make as many kills as you can to increase your gold
haul. Gold buys stats as well as weapons and armour. Always take on the lowest level opponent
that you can i.e. if you're lvl4 fight lvl1,lvl5 fight lvl2 etc.
Never work unless it's the only option. Let your sword earn you gold.
When spending money, increase primary stats
up to level 7, then buy a copper sword,
then a horse. Be careful how much you
improve the stats of your horse, since you
will eventually need to trade up, then you
lose all the horse's training. Don't buy
armour or shields before level 10 or 11.
Improve your weapon at level 10. The best weapon at this level is the Fouchard, by far. It will easily see you to level 15.
PM me when you're approaching level 10.
Good Luck
